Why this year is starting to irk me
Monday without work was a busy day. I spent half the morning LOST in the maze that is SS20, SS21 and SS22 (I don't know Damansara Utama very well), and after which, an author stuffed me silly with BBQ ribs from The Rib Shop.
Let's talk about the food there. I had a mid-sized oblong plate of very delicious BBQ spare ribs, laid on top of very creamy mashed potatoes and some coleslaw, while my author had some tiramisu—something about an expanding waistline. Well, didn't feel too good whipping out my camera to photograph the food (it's a business lunch, after all), so you'll have to do with the not-so-palatable description of the meal. It cost the author RM29.00 minus taxes for my plate, and her dessert was about RM12…The food there tastes good, but it's kinda pricey, so have a good reason to head out to that area (it's behind the Damansara Victoria Station branch, Jalan Kasah area).
Well, food was great but the conversation topic was rather frightening. I mean, it was very, nerve-wrecking. Ms Author looked positively glowing, and she told me the wonderful news.
'My son's getting married this year.'
'That's great! No wonder you look so happy.'
'Yes, I've been waiting for quite sometime. It's great news, isn't it?'
'Sure is. Congratulations!!"
'Thank you… what about you? when are you getting married?'
*Choke on pork chunk.*
'Huh?'
'You're 25 right?'
'Almost. Nearing lah…'
'Yes. It's THE marriageable age.'
Yoh… Chinese New Year until now I've been getting bombarded with this stupid question. Last year also not so bad, they only asked me whether I was dating anyone, but this year it's REALLY freaky eiiiiiii…. Like this I don't dare to go out liao…
The perils of being almost 25. Gah.

i know parents nowadays still have the tendency to force their sons/daughter into marriage. Why still so old fashioned? Just ignore them, maybe they have nothing more to say to you.

so when are you getting married? *hehe*
on a serious note, i’ve come to know some friends who gets married around this age anyway - it’s not about parents forcing but they just want to. and here I am waiting for my brother to get hitched - i want niece/nephews!!!! *hehe* I’m like the “old fashioned” mother here, harping on my brother.

sorry… but I’ve gotta say… The Ribs Shop really sucks. I’ve been there 3 times… because client wanna go makan… and it is absolutely terrible. The meat sticks to the bone. So chewy it gets stuck in your teeth.
Good ribs should be like Cafe Cartel or Toni Romas in Singapore. The meat is tender and falls off the bone.

hahah you are right minishorts. Free stuff always tastes good. Most of the time… I’m paying and it feels like a bloody waste! (”,)
To me… somewhere more simple like Madam Kwan’s taste better than the Rib Shop.
