Someone help me here

Tuesday, July 26th, 2005 @ 9:54 am | Gender-bender

If you're a doctor or a pharmacist or anyone who knows how to do the calculations, please help me with this.

I've lost count of my period days. The last time I went to Kuantan, I was supposed to be having my period on the 28th of June. But then I wanted to swim and sunbath and wear minishorts, so leaking blood on beach holidays was out of the question.

So I took suppressants. I was on it two times a day, from the 26th till the 30th. Thereafter I think the period only arrived on the 2nd of July.

My question is: when will this month's period come. Do I calculate based on the first day of the last period, or still from the 28th of June. I'm going to Bukit Merah on the 6th, and I really want to swim still… but I don't want to be bleeding and staining the waters with my blood yeah. So what do I do here ?

Thanks.

First day of your last period for the full cycle…if I ain’t mistaken. But if you’ve been under stress, it would change - for some at least.

Btw, your period ’stops’ for a bit when you’re swimming - so you won’t be the staining the waters. I went swimming during my period several times and it was cool. Just stepped under the shower for a good few minutes and immediately dunked myself into the pool.

Other alternative: you could always use a tampon.

  2. ioney Says:

Wear a tampon! I’ve climbed stuff, kayak-ed and almost drowned with nary a bloodstain on my pants.

  3. minishorts Says:

i don’t like sticking things up my vagina lah.

  4. IB Says:

MS, aiyoo lah girl, taking suppressents and screwing around with the rhythm of your body is worse than “sticking something up your vagina” once in a while for a few hours.

Don’t use tampons though, personally I hate them and they’re not very good for you.

From my experience, you calculate from day you actually started your period - not the theoretical date.

  5. minishorts Says:

OK don’t swim. WAIL I WANNA SLIDE DOWN THE WATER SLIDE.

shit can you imagine the streaks of blood left behind?

  6. MeiNu Says:

Rock on minishorts!Have a nice day.

  7. T-Boy Says:

i don’t like sticking things up my vagina lah

Thanks for making me nearly swallow my mint.

  8. Mei Says:

There WON’T be any stains la….

  9. MeiNu Says:

Does anyone know of websites that sells Asian food such as maggi in the States?

  10. IB Says:

MS - i know this is kinda gross, but some women use pads when they swim, as long as they are not getting wet for long. Maybe you can use one to slide down the slide and then quickly go change?

    Qualification - I don’t mean me!

  11. minishorts Says:

how the hell did the asian food come into the picture?

IB that is like gross. hahaha. LIKE GROSS. where to stick the pad? to the swimming suit?

  12. SaDdNesZ.jc Says:

I don’t know whether this is even politically correct… but gross is definately under-rated nowadays…

  13. simon Says:

don’t use tampons if you don’t like it. use those winged things that u stick on your panties. The heavy usage ones are as effective as tampons.

lB is right. don’t mess with the cycle (although i’m sorry i can’t speak from experience)

  14. Kongtender Says:

I am not a doctor and not in medical field and I am not female but I think should be from the 1st day. Please let me know if I am correct. This kind of knowledge is important when you are married. hehehe

  15. Cindy Says:

Based on the first day of the last period. 2nd of July. So calculate your average cycle time from there. If yours is 28 days exactly every cycle, it should 28 days + 2nd july.

If your period is normally irregular, the pills you taking may affect the timings for the next cycle. So it will be hard to estimate the timing at all.

    Cheers…

  16. Pam Says:

hiya, I’ve not messed wif me period cycle before, but I know my cousin used to take some med to bring it forward a coupla days earlier. Will ask her n get back to u…..

LOL.. yah! How did the Asian food thingy get into the picture…. hahahhahahaah!!!!

  17. S-Kay Says:

LOL…suddenly got food topic in between the comments..LOL

Anyway, according to my dad & mom..(no I did not tell them your prob but they told me bout pills when I was going away to Redang), you start calculating from your last period cycle (the usual calculation ler) but it MIGHT be a lil late and it MIGHT be a lil early too coz the pills would’ve kacau-ed your usual period cycles already. So from the next one onwards, it’s gonna be like a whole new pattern again.

Luckily so far I have no probs coz period usually comes before I go on a holiday. Muahaha…if not also I purposely make the holiday after my period

  18. Hotemper Says:

Since you took medicine, even Einstein crawl back from grave hole will not be able to salvage the calculation for you.

Still want to swim during period? …. I swallowed 2 scoops of water in swimming pool in last visit……. pui pui pui!

On 6th I will empty my tank in Bukit Merah swimming pool before I left to revenge for the ?????

  19. Primrose Says:

Pads? For a swim? Like sponge lah wei. Cannot, cannot! Can’t do. Let’s hope your period comes by the 2nd Aug, which would mean that by the 6th, you shouldn’t have too much left to stain. Otherwise, can take suppressants some more ah? I also don’t know got such thing. *shame on me*

  20. james Says:

Why? You scared sharks ah?

  21. minishorts Says:

what’s the day it’s supposed to come again?

    gee…

  22. viewtru Says:

It should be the tail end of your period on 6th Aug. You won’t be leaving streaks on the body slide because the motion is too fast for discharge to be noticeable. But its when you land in the pool that could be a problem. I was in Laketown last year and I used the body slide without noticing that I had omitted to tie my swim trunk securely after going to the toilet. On landing in the pool after the water slide, my trunk came off partially. Nobody saw(I think). The force of landing may knock your pad out of position. The Laketown resort slide is a two stage slide. There is usually nobody in the intermediate pool between the upper and lower slides. I suggest you keep a towel handy near that pool. After sliding down the first stage, check if you have red stuff oozing out. If you have, climb out of that intermediate pool and cover yourself with a towel. There should be nobody around there. Wear a red mottled swimsuit. Please read my new book “How I learned to stop worrying, and love my period.”

  23. LYNN Says:

Never try using pads when you are swimming..trust me…very horrible idea..saw that happening to a friend before..halfway swimming the damn thing came floating out… now imagine that thing swimming in the pool…*SHUDDER*..VERY bad idea..
Btw, I think I agree that calculation starts on the first day..coz you never know when the last day is..at times you still get little stains here and there a few days later..so how to count?

  24. spot Says:

how about making it come earlier before your holiday…with copious amounts of pineapple juice. i wouldn’t know though, apparently it works.

bukit merah just took on a whole new meaning.

  25. minishorts Says:

wahahahahaha that line about bukit merah haahah…

    i didn’t know viewtru was a girl.

  26. eidur Says:

to viewtru - mai kay kiang

  27. carol Says:

waterslides got water la…so i think even if got stains also the water will wash off haha…but yeah, 6th should be your tail end. unless…. :P eh i know…go lah to the toilet before u get on the slide empty everything out then get on it. :P

  28. lioncub Says:

    Use a Masking Tape!

    Benefits:
    1. Free Brazilian *****
    2. No sticking things up your vagina
    3. Cheap and cost effective
    4. Waterproof
    5. No unsightly bulge like pads

  29. viewtru Says:

minishorts: I’m not a girl. Didn’t you see the picture of me in shorts?

eidur: I’ll give you a special discount for my book. ;)

  30. camlok Says:

use those winged things that u stick on your panties. The heavy usage ones are as effective as tampons.

Err…. how you use winged ones in a swimming custome?

  31. Beer Brat Says:

I think u do not need to worry lah. The pressure of the water in the pool is definitely larger than the pressure of wat is coming out from you. So no prob wan.

    But hey, pads? Grossleh!!

  32. sue lin Says:

1st time reading ur blog, hope i’m welcomed to post. Very the funny and very the informative la ur blog. And i also think u count fr the 1st day of ur last period.

  33. sue lin Says:

or u could always say it wasn’t u

  34. gutsygal Says:

swimming wun b a problem…the water pressure will prevent ur blood from leaking out…but when u come out of the water..run for the toilets…coz its goin to flow like water…LOL =P

  35. FeR Says:

    *tee hee*

swimming, like these good people have told you, won’t be a problem. yeap. because of the pressure difference. water slide…ehmm…doubtful you can go on it without a tampon. no pads. it’s useless.
personally i would use a tampon. you don’t even feel it’s there.
you start counting from your last period. even if you have regular periods, i’d not bank on it coming on time after taking hormonal pills. it will somehow mess up your next period also. may be early, may be later.
i’ve never been regular so the last time i wanted to get rid of my period, i took an inducer. it messed up my already irregular period so now i’ll just stick to tampons. very easy and convenient. get those with applicators, not like ob which you need to insert it with your fingers.

  36. Yuen Li Says:

Hmmm… seems like most everyone else bar the doctors got in before the pharmacists. I guess the doctors will pitch in after the pharmacists. Anyways, as FeR said, your next period (in fact, your next couple) may be a bit messed up. So I wouldn’t bother to start counting just yet. You can start from the coming period and hope that the next one on is regular. First day of bleed = first day of cycle.

  37. virgin Says:

self DIY ejaculation may help

  38. wye Says:

muahaha.. masking tape  but hey.. just get a tampon la  minus the fact tht u actually hv to stick it into ur vagina.. but trust me.. u won’t feel a thing once it’s up.. n hey.. u really wanna go rite.. so it’s just a 1 off thing.. otherwise, sacrifice tht trip bah.

  39. IB Says:

Er… tampons are not very healthy for women (they suck out natural moisture and disturb the natural balance of the vagina, leave dioxins and cotton fluff behind) and also there’s the (small, but real) risk of TSS. I also beg to differ - I can feel the tampon one. Even the mini OB ones.

If you’re going to stick anything up there try a menstrual cup. I have a Keeper, and I wouldn’t give it up for the world. I forget I even have it in.

  40. :p Says:

:mrgreen:hey gal, forget about ur swimming plans…there ain’t any pools or beautiful lakes/beach(watever beaufifool place u’re imagineing of) in bukit merah(that is if ur talking bout the laketown resort)…..it’s just a stupid dumbarse ugly brownish lake thats it, yea n one more thing, the place has one of the worst food in malaysia…even the fast food there sucks..
ps- if u’re talking bout another place in bukit merah just forget bout wat i’ve just said….haha:razz:

  41. lucia Says:

quote minishorts: “i don’t like sticking things up my vagina lah.”

    really? :wink::twisted:

  42. medico Says:

Quit fretting. Viewtru’s spot on……….unlike the other gibberish. Unless you are the sort who bleeds days on end , should be at the tail end around the 6th. Don’t need to stick anything up! If you have the chance next time, plan ahead with a cycle or 2 of OCP’s.

  43. ribbon Says:

better to stick you-know-up in there?

  44. bobdogz Says:

Shooot! What coincidence. The date, the place…soooo similar. Mine supposed to come on 28th June too, but I was worried coz I supposed to be in Pulau Lang Tangah, near to where you are! I know there’s a difference between Kuantan and Terengganu though :p

But then though I didn’t take any pills, mine oso actually came on 2nd July

And now, I’ll be somewhere on the 6th August too. It’s Malacca though, and lucky there’s no waterpark which I would like to go there.

  45. ribbon Says:

well, my boyfriend still likes to stick his tongue in there, he he

  46. veus Says:

    Mini,

it actually really does not bleed when u’re in the water. For some reason it is suppressed. I used to go swimming all the time with period. even if you use slide at the end of the slide.. IT’S WATER!!
