VIEWTHRU, yup, I guessed that was your intention for the tale, to explain the origin of ‘peach blossom happiness’ and also about the mid-autumn festival. As for minishorts ‘reading’, it becomes her analysis and interpretation that supersedes your intention, i.e she ‘read and imagined’ your story her style. But, she has good pointers on how a guy should woo a girl!

Once again, well written story. The conversations were good, really had an authentic we-xia feel, albeit a modern take on it. Continue writing!

dreamer idior: It was a simple story to explain how we ended up carrying lanterns during the Mid Autumn Festival, written in my usual inane manner. I am still trying to figure out how “this story was in fact a guide to the average thinking woman’s mind”. I will need an average woman to explain it to me. But I don’t know any average woman!

ViewThru, What a story! I really like your corny sense of humour and the pleasant twist at the end, but I must say that

Minishorts, has ingeniously read and ‘re-wrote’/ re-created your story. In a way, the act of ‘reading’ itself becomes an act of ‘creating’, as the author’s intentionality (through plot, character, structure and words) are very much subjected to the reader’s own mind and imagination.Minishorts has turned the story from a wuxia styled love story for/about the autumn lantern festival into a story of courtship (the initial four male gatekeepers have become the different internal ‘minders’ of a woman).

I wonder whether Minishorts or Viewthru has the sex metaphor of gate and erhm, (v…..) in mind for this story. If so, ths metapor would partly undermine the noble intentions of the Swordsman, with its primary emphasis on sex only… So, the earnestness of Swordsman Wu can be interpreted as on one’s personal take / taste of the story: deep, genuine love (he had to go far) or just the sex…

Well, I prefer the former, as I would guess/think Viewthru’s ‘intentions’ are, right?
