In a chat with a lot of different bloggers the other day, I discussed a certain sickness apparent in all of us. See, because when bloggers have a chat, we talk about blogs (duh), blogs that we like and blogs that we, erm…hate.
There used to be this one little blog around which I actually hated, and boy, I hated it with a passion. Every time I read the blog, I gagged at the ridiculous writtings, the pathetic blogger moaning about his life and the hoarde of fan-bois that seemed to think that that blog was the best around. Here's where everybody says, "Look, if you hate it so much why don't you just click the little X and never return?"
But that is about as effective as telling a smoker to stop smoking even though he knows it's bad for him. And so, everyday, my fingers felt inclined to type in his blog URL and my eyes were forced to read what our Nemesis here had to say. And everyday, without fail, I would roll my eyes at the sheer idiocy of the words staring back at my face (on somedays, I would bang my head on the table in front of me).
Discussing my problem with MANY bloggers and blog readers alike, I found that my illness was a common one. You see, Superman has Lex Luthor. Batman has The Joker. MENJ and Rajan have each other. We all have our Nemesis, a blog we hate so much, but couldn't live without. We all had different Nemesis, but each one had it's own potent effect on us all. Sure, we are all sensible people and we never (seldom) troll our Nemesis' blog, but somehow, our Nemesis seemed to make us horribly pissed offed everytime we read their rubbish.
Back to my Nemesis…his blog actually had the ability to make me horribly depressed – an ability that not many inanimate objects have. And yet, now that he has stopped blogging, it seems weird that I can no longer message my friend (who hates him as well) on MSN and say, "Hey, did you see what the stupid idiot wrote today?"
My mornings these days are pretty much spent chatting with a few other bloggers, each of us complaining about our own Nemesis. As you can see, this is indeed a common illness plaguing a lot of us out there. In fact, I am confident that there are loads of people who hate minishorts.net but are reading this as well. And the problem, like all other problems, arise when people are so pissed offed at something but have no where to vent their anger. These are the people who end up posting hate comments and become the bane of every blogger.
So folks, the next time you get really angry at yourself for reading a blog that you hate, and before posting a 'hate comment', remember that you aren't the only one out there suffering from this disease. The comment box below is for you to tell me whether or not you have your very own Nemesis. Consider this a Bloggers' Anonymous session.
Oh, and the NO LINK POLICY is back in place. Whoever your Nemesis is, you are free to share with your friends, but not shame him in public here. Unless of course if you hate my ugly red blog, then I really do want to hear about it.
