Oh my love’s like a red, red rose

Tuesday, November 8th, 2005 @ 12:08 am | Diary-writer

This is going to be a one-of-a-kind very mushy post. I hardly do this these days, because I have an image to keep, and no, you can't be in your mid-twenties and behave like a 16-year-old anymore.

BUT I HAVE TO BLOG ABOUT THIS. I JUST HAVE TO. HAVE TO. HAVE TO. Nyek. It's my blog I can do WHATEVER I want to do and I will boast about the extra surprise present that I got a couple of weeks ago.

Now please, understand that it was a very tiring day, I was running very very late on my deadlines (which are, coincidentally, always on a 'yesterday'), and I knew that no boss was going to let me off easy for heck of a 'birthday'. I skipped lunch, yes, I skipped lunch, and while the others were down having their quick breaks, I had to work overtime on the comp.

And then I went out to the loo for a bit.

And then I came back.

And when I came back.

I saw.

This.

OMG.

OMG.

OMG.

ON MY TABLE.

WAH PIANG (sorry, I'm very jakun, I've had bfs before but this is the first time I've got such a fantastic bouquet leh…)

So pretty, had to take photos of it.

See those tiny beans there. I have NO IDEA what they are. My colleagues were gushing at my fortune though. And we all discussed 'the beans'. I decided that they were chillies. Yup.

'They're chillies.'

My colleague started at me. 'Cannot be lah. What nonsense.'

'Yes, they're chillies. Maybe we'll just steal a bit and chop it up to see if its lethal.'

Well obviously I didn't do that lah. What I did, was to transfer the flowers to a black vase. I think red goes well with black.

The bouquet's gone now, and I have these pictures! An older colleague joked that men are extra nice when you're still a-courting, and I think I'll better take that as an advice to treasure whatever I have right now.

how sweet. i hate it on Valentines though, a bouquet (dozen red roses) is like maybe RM24 on normal days, and RM88~138 on VD, I think.

I think they’re some kind of berry; maybe included because roses mean “I love you” and berries mean “berry much”.

    I think.

Oh minishorts, kecewanya hati aku apabila melihat gambar minishorts posing dengan bunga tersebut. Siapakah lelaki bertuah yang berjaya mencuri hatimu? Kenapa saya tidak bertuah macam lelaki itu? Namun, aku tetap ‘fan’ anda. Percayalah!!

  24. __earth Says:

  25. T-Boy Says:

Why is it after reading this post I suddenly have image of you doing the Ultraman pose with your hands, standing on one leg and going “WAH PIANG!”

    It’s a seductive image. I don’t understand why.

Reminds me of the time I received flowers, and I took them home and stuck them in a vase. When my flatmates BF came over, he thought they were HERS and wanted to know about them. I was rather upset when my flatmate pretended they were hers! THEY WERE MINE!!!! But I didn’t make a seen, but somehow we got into an arguement about them later!!!

My flatmate had pretended I’D BOUGHT THEM FOR HER!!! Grrrrrr! My Flowers! Get your own Nazi Flatmate!!! Not often a guy receives flowers from a girl!!! (But I have more than once - I wonder if it’s a western thing for girls to buy guys flowers!)

Anyway, they are very nice flowers. You Lucky Ducky You!!! :-)

Well, I’m sure a PS2 ain’t as expensive as the Tiffany neckless/bracelet/anklet/bra you received on your birthday! :)

    * Tiffany bra… something to consider for Summer ’06’s catalog.

  29. Tan Kok Seng Says:

Florists just refer to your chillies as “berries”. They seem to be almost always used with roses.

I hope the flowers continue coming even after the initial “courtship” buzz cools off.

  30. zuj aka champion sperm Says:

I once heard that gers like flowers precisely because they are “useless” and expensive. So when bfs are willing to spend $$ on something so useless for their sake, it kinda of show that he loves her. Agree ??
Besides, flowers are involved in fertilization….so maybe…by giving flowers, guys might be hinting at something else. *wink*

  31. Wan Zafran Says:

Wah, this is so romantic! Nice one, Minishorts ^_^

This post reminds me of my efforts when I was pursuing a girl some time back. I bought roses, chocolates, three handbags and did some other stuff; I then instructed a friend to creep into this girl’s house (when she wasn’t around), to decorate and adorn her bed and room with my gifts for her.

Hell, I failed to win her heart anyway.

  32. Vagus Says:

Could be chillies. Apparently they’re the ‘in’ things now.
when i was the best man at my friend’s wedding, the florist made us chilli corsages. i swear. cute. but kinda weird to me.
    nice flowers.

  33. Dabido (Teflon) Says:

I should probably add something romantic i did for my ex once. (This is as ideas for the guys, girls can stop reading … don’t want you thinking I am romantic or anything!)

Twelve days before Xmas, i brought her a single rose … thne the next day, two … then the third day three … thn the fourth day four … then day five, five, then six , then seven … then we ran out of vases to put them in, and my wife (now ex-wife) asked me to stop. So she got about 28 roses … plus the rest of the dozen … which I think meant there were actually 36 all together.

One of my other friends got his GF’s mother to let him into her room (don’t worry, he wasn’t doing naughty stuff) … and he got every vase in the house and had her room decorated in roses. It went down very well … they eventually got married. (Okay, so unhappy ending!) ;-) Just kidding about the unhappy ending. Was a happy ending. ;-)

  34. Kyels Says:

    Wei… Hehe.

Your bf is so damn sweet man!

And the flowers are nice too. Wheee!

  35. a Says:

i am really flattered by what ur bf did….make u smile in front of camera so effortlessly….way 2 go minishirts…U should give him a kiss or something

[...] I love flowers but I don’t quite go ga-ga (and wah piang! Boy, that exclamation left a deep impression on me) like girls do. Why do I like them? It’s just they’re part of green behavior kind of stuff. By they, I mean, the flowers, of course. Live flowers, not dead fresh flowers to be precise - I have a slight irritation with people that love to pick flowers. Hey, I’m a mad treehugger. What do you expect? [...]
