The troubles at MAS
Hi, this is viewtru, the Social Commentary guy.
I am in the midst of planning for my end-of-year vacation.
I work hard all year and the least that I could do for myself is to go away to someplace decent to forget about the clowns and retards with whom I rub shoulders with everyday. Someplace that does not remind me of work. Someplace where I can see lots of bikinis. And maybe one or two without bikinis.
But now that MAS is increasing their prices on some air routes, life may just not be worth living anymore. The fact that they have run up a huge financial loss is no reason to jack up the airfares.
Where is the rationale in giving out perks and gratuity payments in June(blogged in Dick Tomatoski article) and then conducting a Voluntary Separation Scheme in November? I can’t help but wonder if the planning of MAS has gone downhill. Maybe I ought to stop wondering at an established fact, but I like MAS.
Whenever I fly with the airline, I would choose an aisle seat and the best scenery would always be the sight of a MAS stewardess walking up and down the aisle, giving my raging hormones a decent workout. When you get a heady feeling like that one mile high up in the air, you know that you are on holiday!
Flying with other airlines just don’t leave me with the same kind of feeling. Despite the amount of shit that the national airline get from other flyers, I have NEVER had a bad experience with MAS. It has always been good. My luck, huh?
Oh, I’ve flown with Air Asia and I always come away with the feeling that I’m at a bus depot on the way to yet another office assignment. It was still kinda fun, but just not that much fun.
Foreign airlines are all right, but a tad cold with their boring uniforms. Gimme MAS anytime.
Here’s a trivia fact that I’ve noticed. I can hear the sound of crickets day and night, in the jungle and right in town. Even inside a shopping complex. The only time I don’t hear them is when I’m up in the air.
This is Viewtru, ending the social commentary and going off to check on some airline prices.

the stewards on Mas planes are short short short. The young ones are mostly shorter than me. SO.

Hi, This is Dabido the … um … er … Alien Abduction Guy.
Bikini’s and lack of them … go to Cairns. Green Island has a place called ‘Nudie Beach’. Soem girls invited me to go there, but being the brave sort that I am, I fought them off. Anyway, Nudie beach you don’t have to wear anything, and most of the girls don’t. But, Green Island is off the coast of Cairns, and there isn’t much else to do there other than Ocean Kiyaki (which is why I was there).
BUT, goto Cairns at the end of January or the beginning of February and you can White Water Raft the North Johnston River - it has nice Grade Five Rapids. (And we all love those), other wise, you can do the Tully River (Grade 4 rapids) or the ‘yawn’ Baron river (Grade 3 rapids)
BUT, lots of nice looking girls and plenty to do in Cairns - Sky Dive, Jungle Tour, Mountain Bike ride, horse ride along beach, Para sail, Jet Ski, scuba, snorkle, kiyak, party all night long, lots of Japanese girls too … but that’s my fetish, so leave some for me … balloon ride, sail, see animals/crocodiles get fed … just a normal relaxing holiday.
I always get a window seat. I prefer to watch the clouds than somestuck up Hostess who probably wouldn’t give me their number if I asked … not that I ever ask, I’m busy watching clouds!
Don’t fly Gulf air - worst takeoff and landing was on Singapore to Abu Dhabi route. i swear the wings almost hit the runway on take off, and we hit the cement three times on landing!

hi this is hteekay.. the erm.. another Kenny named guy..
I only flown on MAS once and that was ages ago and I don’t really remember when it was but I remember that it was a good exprience. The fare is a bit tad expensive but I reckon the service is still one of the best. I guess you get what you pay for.
Can’t say Airasia provide a good service but it isn’t bad either. At least the stewardess aren’t anal toward me. But you are right about boarding it feels like boarding an express bus. But the fare is cheap. Yet again I guess you get what you pay for.
Have fun on your vacation.

From now on you’ve gotta plan your vacations in advance, and purchase your tickets during MATTA Fair…there ain’t no other way of getting cheaper fares nowadays… *sigh*
AirAsia is not bad, at least i find the air hostesses better looking, somehow…just my HO.

minishorts: There’s probably a good reason for this. Short guys generally weigh less, leaving more payload for cargo.
Dabido: Green Island, you say? I have not been to the Northern half of Australia. Now that you mentioned Green Island, I must be missing something!
The other Kenny: The AirAsia fare can be really cheap if booked months in advance.
Jeremy C: The AirAsia hostesses are not bad looking. However, the bright red of the uniform makes me wanna put on sunglasses!

Hi, I’m Lionel, the.. er.. some guy.
“Flying with other airlines just don’t leave me with the same kind of feeling. Despite the amount of shit that the national airline get from other flyers, I have NEVER had a bad experience with MAS. It has always been good. My luck, huh?”
Neither have I. There’s always something to snitch and take home (though that doesn’t include stewardresses). And the “airline food” stereotype doesn’t apply to MAS, if you ask me.
November 16th, 2005 at 6:10 pm
hi lionel. please blog more often. we’ve missed you tremendously.

I thought MAS sucked big time.
They are always the 2nd after AirAsia made its debut.
Plus I can always get cheaper tickets online!
And I did use Air Asia to go to Bali. The ticket costs RM200+ only, as compared to MAS that currently charging 1thou something… *crazy price I know*
That is TO AND FRO!
And when I’m going back to Malaysia for holidays, I will always choose AirAsia.
And who cares if the airline doesn’t give out free food?
I can buy hotel buffets with the money that I saved.
Peace….

Viewtru - i don’t think Green Island is famous or anything. i only found out about it as i wanted to go Scuba one day, and Sea Kiyaking the next. So they made me spend an awful night at Green Island. It has ONE restuarant and ONE bar and all the other shop shut at 5 pm and you need to book the restaurant or else you DON’T EAT!!! Waaah!
Anyway, it’s an okay place to spend a day, but if they try to talk you inot spending th enight there, DON’T DO IT.
After about 7 PM everyone is in their beds and it’s SOOO DULL!
BUT, like I said, they do have a nudie beach there during the day - you can catch a boat there in the morning and then take one home at night - and i think a few arrive there during the day as well.

November 17th, 2005 at 7:49 pm
Quasi Malaysian companies operate in such manners - pass the cost to the customers, all cost, irrespective. MAS was born a wetlock of the Malaysian Incorporate - fat overheads, low productivity, high costs due to privileged vendors, and obligated to political patronages.
That’s the price we pay … Malaysia Boleh

Not very inspiring to know that our national airline is so poorly managed.
