Updates.

Jul 03, 2006 in Curse-spouter

I'm back in the office. Stack of to-do's piling up on my desks–staggered deadlines are not comforting at all. Looking forward to the weekend holiday in Bangkok–I seem to go around places more often eh?

Oh did I tell you? The trip to Bangkok is the very first trip that Eric is taking with MY FAMILY! Surely this must mean good news for the relationship.

What more can a girl ask for? Am happy. *Sniff* Cross fingers and hope all goes well.

You know the thing about doing what I do for a living is the damned fact that my phone's literally ringing all the time. Yesterday I was at the beautician's for the first time in months and the lady had just slapped on a peppermint mask, and the bloody phone rang. A journalist.

Yes, I know you guys work on Sundays. But people like me, even though we're not at the office all the time, we're usually on call most of the time.

'Hi, can I speak to you for a minute? I need your opinion…'
'Urm. It's not a good time now. Can I get back to you?' Mumbling through hardening mask.
'It's very important, and I need your comment on …'
'Can I get back to you? I'm not in a position to comment now. Please?'
'But this case here, it just takes a while to answer.'
'Well, I'll get back to you in an hour. I'm with some friends now, and I need to get my documents before I can give you a statement.'
'Oh okay. Well, but right now what do you think?'
'Listen, when will your paper be published?'
'Tonight?'
'So you have some time, at least till 5 pm before you type in my statement, that is if you choose to use it right?'
'Yes. Well, of course we'd like to use it.'
'It's only 12 noon. I'll call you in an hour.'
'Why can't you give me your opinion now?'
'Because I'm at the beautician's and MY FACE IS PLASTERED WITH PEPPERMINT GEL!'
'Oh, okay. Okay. 1 pm.'
'I'll call you. So sorry for the inconvenience okay? Be patient.'
'Okay I'm so sorry to disturb you.'

KNNCB. You should have been sorry from the first sentence. Gah.

So the conversation was resumed an hour later, and then with a promise on her part to fax me the documents that she possessed at her end.

'So okay,' said our friend the persistent journo. 'I'll fax you the materials now, and you should see it on your desk tomorrow morning.'
'Awesome. Will be looking forward to see it.'

I got into the office at 7.45 this morning okay? And it's already 1020 am. I have NOT received any fax so far. Mana faks whey? Tak nampak whey!

Still waiting. Fingers strumming.
