First things first. Elaine-babes has got a spanking new template. The woman messaged me in the middle of a meeting…hehehehehe you somehow KNOW that it has got to be pretty good, considering how so very 'often' she blogs.
It's very nice! BUT I DEMAND MORE PICTURES OF YOU!!
Second thing is a quick rant about an old friend, let's call him Ah Eng (not his real name of course, and he doesn't read blogs, but still). Dude's almost 30, and living with the parents. Parents used to dote over him, had all the things as a kid, but he's a ever-ranting, complaining kid. The other day over tarik and canai the kid was talking about how his dad had been upgraded to some CEO position and how his pay would have increased and etc, and yet was Astill asking him when he was going to move out, find a nice girl and settle down.
'Erm. Nothing wrong with that what? My mom also says that to me,' I said.
'Look. My dad's rich. There's plenty of rooms in the house. I'm not even asking him for spending money anymore, which he should give me a bit. I'm his son anyway. He's chasing me out. Can you believe this?'
Our other friend, Ice said, 'I don't think he's chasing you out lah. He's just worried that you won't get married.'
'Even if I got married there's nothing wrong with me bringing my wife to his house. Oh sod that. You know, just the other day, he told me that he wanted to cut off my card. The fuck! What kind of father does that?'
We were shocked to our feet. 30 years old and still on Dad's supplementary card list? OMG. Get a life already!
'I mean, he's got richer these years. What's wrong with a bit of sharing? He's got responsibilities as a dad man. It won't hurt to give a bit to the kids, right?'
'Eh your sister leh? Your sister also think so ah?'
'She. She's daddy's girl. Independent, high-flying corporate woman. Dad gives her everything. Me? I've got nothing. Zero. NOT A SINGLE SEN. Stay at home also complain. Let me tell you, most CHINESE PARENTS would love their only sons to stay with them still. Mine? They want me to get out, and be damned. What kind of life is this I ask you?'
You think? I think all Mr-I'm-Such-A-Loser's Dad wants is for his son to grow up and be independent for once. If he really is as rich as Ah Eng's told us, I reckon he'd be very disappointed that his only son hasn't even grown a backbone yet.
Ice replied cooly (she's cool that's why we call her Ice), 'Your dad gave you a car when you graduated from varsity. GAVE YOU A CAR. I'm still struggling to pay off my loan. I think you lead a DAMN GOOD LIFE, Eng.'
At that point, on the projector screen, the English players had just entered the field; so we all decided to watch the game and thank Heavens for good timing.
