Okay lah I so failed…

Sep 21, 2006 in General

I just got back from Genting, and then from Kota Bharu (my Grandma got sick so I took emergency leave to go back to see her). And I just like checked on my last post. And I'm like.

OMG I so failed.

Ok. So the mechanism so doesn't work. You guys don't like freebies. I'm not good at doing commercial shit. Which figures. Maybe it's cos I've been slackening, the popularity isn't really that awesome (I've been kidding myself all these while), I don't get down and personal anymore bla bla, bla bla. It's the GLC syndrome lah (someone once suggested that I work for a government-owned conglomerate), I've turned all 'lazy' and 'unreliable'.

Which is true. I suppose.

So I'm scrapping off the freebies, keeping all three books until the time is right, and saying goodbye for a while.

Actually the truth is I have a bloody event coming up next Saturday so I have to be sporadically unreliable until then.

Toodles!

Oh yeah, Eric and I are still looking for a house. But they say property market going to crash soon… so I'm a bit skeptical about buying houses like now. Then again, from the looks of things, it really seems like everything is crashing about us, right?

Till the next week.

Pixart Pocket Photobook Giveaway!

Sep 14, 2006 in Web-logger

For the first time ever, I'm going to run a contest on minishorts and giveaway prizes. The one that Jolene is posing with in the following photo.

Win a free Pixart book for yourself!

Pixart Pocket Photobooks are all around the M'sian web now and you would have seen bloggers like Jolene, Suanie and Lilian showcasing their reviews. We were lucky enough to get free books for ourselves, I know, but hey, this time around, you get to share in the fun too. Because, I've got THREE PIXART POCKET PHOTOBOOKS TO GIVE AWAY!!

***

How to Get Your Free Pixart Pocket Photobook
Now because each copy is worth RM56.00 each (including shipping), I can't just give it to anyone yeah. If you want it, you have got to work for it. And since Pixart is all about giving your photos a fresh new presentation, I'm going to make this a photo-taking competition, with three themed categories just for variety:

***

THEME A: It rocks to be Malaysian

This entry will be in a series of three (3) photos, and your photo strip must tell a story of why it rocks to be Malaysian, so there has to be a very Malaysian feel to your photograph. You can go to a mamak stall or the Tugu Negara or the KLCC, whereever MALAYSIAN (it can be somewhere overseas also, just as long as there's something that indicates it's a Malaysian theme. The aim of the game is for your photo set to tell a great story. Oh and, if you take this theme, please number your photos to indicate the order of your composition.

The best photo strip wins one Photobook.

***

THEME B: Goofy Face Contest
Search in the mirror for your goofiest look ever, and take a shot of yourself. Or several shots of your cute cute face. And then post it. Or them. Trackback to this post, write me a comment to tell me you’ve done your work, and I’ll head over to see just how funny your face looks. You can take the photo yourself, or of course you can get someone to take the photo for you. Personally, at minishorts, we love natural self-portraits. That means, point, pose, shoot.

The best/funniest goofy face image wins one Photobook.

***

THEME C: Smile, You're on Candid Camera!
This photo is about candid shots, means you cannot do any posing. You can take a photo of anything, maybe you saw two dogs humping each other on your street and you think that's candid enough to shoot, shoot it. Or maybe you think the photo someone who just got pie-d in looks funny, shoot him. It's all about taking things as they're in the action, and of course, the funnier, the better.

The best candid image wins one Photobook.

***

And oh, if you're using Flickr to host your photos, please tag it as 'minishorts-pixart-giveaway'.

Please note that I will be featuring the better sets from each Theme on my site as well, with a linkback to your own blog. All featured photo-sets will be in the running for the prize of course.

Rules & Regulations (have to put this down, nanti you guys forget)

  • The contest is open to everyone with a valid Malaysian address. Pixart will mail the book to Malaysian addresses only.
  • There is no limit to the number of entries posted. However, a winner can only win one (1) prize within all three themes only. So you might want to choose the category that best suits you lor.
  • Photos must be taken in digital format. You can use your digital camera, or mobile phone or PDA, but of course, quality does help to make your photo look better. No digital super imposition please. You can use Photoshop for minor touch-ups but if your photo looks 'fake, fake', then you'll have to pass. This one game is not about skill lah, it's about the most interesting photo that tickles my fancy. ^_^
  • All submissions are to be posted in a dedicated blog post in YOUR own site. You can title your post anyway you want to, but you have to link back to this post. Link back to this address please: http://www.minishorts.net/?p=733
  • IF YOU DO DECIDE TO TRY YOUR LUCK FOR THIS CONTEST, PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR E-MAIL ADDRESS WORKS. Because Pixart will e-mail the contest winners personally to give you details on how you can claim your prize. So what you need to do is, when you've posted your contest entry on your site, head back to this post, drop a comment and leave your e-mail address. Also, in the URL field, provide the direct link to your contest entry so that it will be easy for me to find your photo.
  • This contest will end on the 25th of September 2006. I will seal my comments box on 12 midnight Malaysian time, 25/9/2006 so all attempts after that will be bounced off. This means you'll have over a week to point and shoot and decide on your entries.
  • The winners will be announced on the 30th of September 2006, with the winning entries to be reproduced on minishorts.net. Pixart will e-mail winners to guide them in the steps on how to claim your very own Pocket Photobook.
  • Suddenly I become so commercialized hoh?

But nebermind, got freebies, so don't complain. Get your cameras clicking and let's see those photos up on the Net like now!

The standard starting price for a 24 page pocket book is RM50.00 (not including shipping). However, Pixart's 20% introductory discount on their pocket photobooks are valid till the end of September. This means you can get the basic 24 page mini album at RM 40 each.

Seeing improvements in a homegrown company's product is always an inspiring thing. As for Pixart, I'm glad its going places. The pocket photobook? I say it's a definite deal.

Oh and then I forgot to say this.

Eric and I went to our very first condominum show unit visit yesterday!!

We just went saje to check out the site and the show room and look see look see, think about whether our combined finances can make that dream house come true soon enough.

Of course we're not buying anything just yet but I think this is like a super milestone lor.

Before these it was just baby steps. I think we're starting to go jogging now, yes we are.

    Oh so true.
