I can do this, but you cannot, nyek-nyek!
Oct 18, 2006 in General
If you live by this kind of mentality you'll look childish and uneducated, but amazingly, many people behave like this.
Ironic, isn't it? That it should come to a huge exclamation like this. 'Keep your views to yourselves, non-Muslims!'
And the thing that might shock all of you here, is this. I agree wholly. I agree that in every case, it is important that we DO NOT exceed our limits, that is, you cannot attack or analyze the religion that is not of your own, because none of us are truly qualified to judge another religion, UNLESS we are born of it or living by it.
But there is a difference between questioning another religion, such as Islam, and questioning the (strange) behaviour of its believers, such as Muslims. Which is apparent so far, I hope. The rule is this, you may point out that a certain representative of an organized religious thought is behaving radically and his behaviour has since affected your life. I feel that it is reasonable and important that we speak up against this interference.
But speaking up against the very tenets of a religion and making it the very motive of your blog or website? Now that's plain playing with fire.
So here it is, Menj, I'm not speaking up behind your back, mind you. What I am always so CONCERNED about is the fact that you don't seem to understand this fervent opposition from the masses about what you are doing in your site. I feel that you have every right to glorify your God, and I respect your right to do so. But when you choose to glorify your God by demeaning my religion and the religions of my friends, be it paganism, agnosticism or even atheism, then you're being blatantly offensive.
Which makes your title here 'Keep views to yourselves, non-Muslims' superbly ironic by the way. Considering the kind of derogatory things you've said about Buddhism in your book (Buddhism: A Muslim Primer), and the awful things you talk about Christianity by picking words from our Holy Book and dissing its contents, and insinuating Hinduism as a religion of the Jahilliyah for the sake of upholding your religion, what you're exclaiming is quite hilarious because you've been more than opinionated and openly so in your frequent dissections of other religions. Down to the very core. I mean you even wrote a book about Buddhism, and it is a book based on YOUR VIEWS on the religion, and mind you I didn't find it very tasteful at all.
And understand this, when people join me in our uproar against destructive fundamentalism like yours, we do this because we love the peace, and we go back to your exclamation and appeal to ask us to 'keep our views to ourselves'.
Now I hope that since you're being so explicit in your demands which WE WILL abide by, you won't adopt the, 'I can insult your religion but you cannot nyek nyek because I'm more privileged in this country than you are and I don't give a f*' attitude that you've had so long since I've directly engaged you in this interblog-debate. I'll remind you again that I've got no problems with your glorifying Islam, it is respectable and acceptable and I applaud you in your fervent. But I do not appreciate you poking your nose into my beliefs and questioning the strange things we do such as believing in the Son-of-God. You are allowed to speak up against the evangelists who have hurt you in your life, but I will not tolerate it when you speak up against Christianity, or any religion at the very core of its teaching.
You should keep your views to yourself.
Keep your views to yourselves, non-Christians.
Add On: In particular, in relation to this post of yours, Mr Ibn Juferi (whom we all know is MENJ even though hilariously when people address him directly as MENJ in this site, he denies being the same person).
Add On: And of course, his latest 'exposure'.
And on behalf of my other friends. I'll say in it many lines.
Keep your views to yourselves, non-Buddhists.
Keep your views to yourselves, non-Hindus.
Keep your views to yourselves, non-Taoists.
Keep your views to yourselves, non-B'ahais.
Keep your views to yourselves, non-Agnostics.
Keep your views to yourselves, non-Atheists.
I'm saying all these because YOU started it first.
And I'll add on. If in ANYWAY I have insulted the very tenets of Islam, by blasphemizing the words from your Holy Books and questioning the God-required way of life that you practise, I apologize from my heart. And I promise not to do it again.
Mahaguru58, I have been following your series of debates with Suanie, and I hope you take heed what I'm saying in this post too. Thanks.
