Two score and ten years ago, being published means something. And those who can write are not pretentious, humble and always ready to share. Today, sigh, I see half-past-six bloggers (present company exempted) who beat their chests and exclaim (albeit silently) "Ah Am A Writer, So You dang well pay me some respect." I feel sorry for the delusions some of them are experiencing. Lofty dreams and overexpectations can come crashing down as quickly as inflated egos punctured by the needle of reality..
