Weekly out-of-town trips.

Friday, December 8th, 2006 @ 9:51 am | Diary-writer

The year's rounding up and I have several outstation journeys to make before ushering in the new year. Going to Manjung this weekend to show off our power station to some journalists… and then the following week, am visiting our hydroelectric dam at Kenyir with several photographers…

A week later I'll be off to Hanoi with my cousins… we'll be celebrating the new year then.

This means that I hardly have time to do spring cleaning.

I've never been to a power station before, so I'm actually very excited. Except, hmmm… I'm not sure if I enjoy the work that's to come.

TNB Janamanjung is really impressive, man made island and all. You don’t really get the magnitude of the place until you see the towers as you drive by.

Security is tight getting in and remember…NO PHOTOS. I understand they’ll confiscate your camera/phone/video cams.

You forget that I’m working for TNB. The point of this trip is to allow an exclusive visit for journalists and photography enthusiasts. Hopefully you’ll be able to see the photos of this magnificent place on this blog too.

I went on an excursion to a steel factory in Klang some time ago and they didn’t allow photographs. This was an organised excursion, there were about 20 of us. I had my camera and took 3-4 pics before the official gave a warning. No doubt he would’ve confiscated the camera if I kept shooting. It seems pointless to pay for an excursion if they don’t allow photographs but it happens.

so if i do come back with photos, you’re going to do what? ^_^

I didn’t say they wouldn’t let you, it may be an exception for your case. There was another place I went to where they took everyone’s things, including mobile phones. We gave them to the guard house on entry and collected them on exit. Hope they do allow you to take photos. ^_^

    hmmm… hopefully. we’ll see.
