Erm Jeff: easy. There are churches every where. My church is about 5 minutes drive away from my house. There's a temple, about 2 minutes walk away from where I stay. while people may think that we're being suppressed, in reality, we're not. We are allowed to believe in what we want to believe, and technically speaking, as long as you're not Muslim, its equally easy to convert out of a religion as it is to convert into a religion. it is easy to convert into islam, but it isn't to apostate from it... that's probably one of the bigger discussions we're having over here with regards to racial-religious politics right now.

So I think, yes, we're blessed that way, because despite what people may think and believe, we are allowed to believe in what we want to believe. Come to Malaysia, and you'll see Mosques, Temples and Churches everywhere. And as it is with so many religions co-existing in a one place, yes, there's some kind of tension going on, but I think the humanist in all of us will persevere and keep the zealot within, so yeah, we're all safe, that way.

Merry Christmas!

Oh and I think I have some idea what you're talking about. Here in America, during award shows we often have musicians who live sordid lives, sing about sex and drugs, but then when they win an award, tell everyone they have to thank God for helping them win the award and changing their lives. This has always struck me as great hypocrisy.

Anyway, I'm not sure if that's what you're referring to, but if it is, then I at least share your viewpoint.

Speaking of religion, however, I remember you discussing that you are Christian. I have always wondered how you found Christianity given that you live in a predominantly Muslim country. I ask because I am Christian as well and even though I live in a predominantly Christian country (the U.S.) my parents adopted Christianity while they were in Asia.

Now if this is a controversial topic that you wish to avoid, you may feel free and ignore it. Religion is as always a sensitive topic, and given your employment, might be even more of a sensitive topic then it is for others.

Oh and as always, I am grateful for the thoughtfulness of your posts. You are consistently one of the most well-thought and intelligent bloggers around.

"Ha ha no one knows what I'm rambling on about, so guess away."

Are you smug about it?

What if nobody cares what you're rambling about?
