I think we overestimate ourselves.

We think we all can write, and we think we're all right just because we can string together a few words. Oh we think just because we're able to publish these things, and these 'articles', because they're publicly accessible (provided you have an inkling on what 'weblogging' is all about), we're invisible. We think we're important, oh we think we're all very important people, that even though our thoughts are diverse and mostly generalizing, we're supposed to be taken seriously. And so we allow ourselves to grow and expand in our self-consuming egos, conveniently ignoring responsibility, because we think we can.

I think politicians, and important business people, they overestimate us too.

For some reason they give us far more credit that we all should afford ourselves. They make statements about our characters, sweeping ones that somehow find their way to the newstands, printed in 'established' registered press copies. They estimate the number of us, they think we're a legion, when in fact, we're all separated cliques, basking in adoration of our bloated self-esteems. They feed us, they give us credit (even when we don't exactly deserve all these). They tell the people to look at us, think about us. By bestowing unresearched labels upon us, they're according us some kind of undeserved respect, now people see, people look, people think, oh yeah these could be true. You see, in the real world, most people actually believe about 50% of what the politicians say, and then they add more salt and pepper to spice up the remaining 50% so that it becomes extra spicy and delectable to the ears.

It's an interesting situation. Really.

All these statements, I think they give us far too much credit. A note of appreciation to them, because we won't be where we are if not for their efforts in ensuring that people listen. Now we've turned from nobodies into somebodies. All thanks to you.

Generally speaking of course. This is a post of sweeping statements.

Had I the time.

I'd have a dozen and one things to talk about.

Alas.

DiGi’s Cool Office!

Mar 21, 2007 in Diary-writer

This post will probably top my list as most number of photos in a single post. I was thinking of splitting up the post into separate episodes, but due to time constraint, decided against it.

Photos taken from separate tours to DiGi, with permissions from the Corporate Affairs section of DiGi Telecommunications.

May I just say this before I start, 'Your office so nice, I so jeles, can?'

OK, nvm, enough of being sampat.

Lounges and living areas that make the office look more like a hotel more than an office. I could use one of these in the house that I will live in one day.

Washrooms. I think this was on the third floor. Check out the almost-nekkid pictures depicting Female-and-Male washrooms. The cooler one is the Disabled Person's Washroom, photo of the guy in the wheelchair is just so liberating.

Office area, where no one has a fixed cubicle so you can literally plug in wherever you want. In fact, staff are not supposed to sit in the same place more than two days in a row. Oh yeah and the other one is obviously their indoor sports complex.

The folks at DiGi had a family day to get staff to bring their kids in and they painted this cool thing, in the exit stairway area. And their staff-corridors are just so pretty and relaxing.

Meeting rooms are exotic holiday islands. So you can say, 'Hey, let's go to Cuba for our planning meeting,' and literally mean it.

Midgaard is a hospitality meeting area, built with materials from Norway. The room is a gift from DiGi's parent company Telenor.

Oh yeah there's even a Mafia room.

When I first came to DiGi I went, 'OMG YOU HAVE A CLASSY BAKERY IN YOUR OFFICE.'

So envious lah…

Oops, and this, folks, is Mr Frank Chan, the guy who made my visit (and the forthcoming ones) all possible. THANK YOU SO MUCH for being the most generous host, DiGi, and for allowing readers to see what's it like to be working at D'House at Subang HiTech.

OK The End. Hope tomorrow gets less taxing. Ta!

This week is going to be a killer week.

Dear Blog,

I want to apologize for leaving you out cold in recent days. It's my job, my life, all these things have taken precedence over you. I'm so sorry-lah, but you're just a website. I mean, you're important to me, and I'd die if I lost you, but I really really really can't find the time proper to give you a pat on the back.

But I know you understand me so well. After all, you've been my confidante for so many years.

I LOVE YOU.

Sincerely,
Signed and etc.
