Reaching Out: In Memoriam

Jun 13, 2007 in Diary-writer

A friend and mentor who still has the memories of his late niece, Yvonne lingering in his mind called me over a week ago (before my second weekend at LP) to ask me if I could do him a favour. A simple one, to post a video that he did of himself dancing all over landmarks in Beijing on my blog.

This was what he said in the e-mail:

I really hope many people will log in my niece blog after see me dance crazy. I still don't know does this works. I really shy..but because love my niece so much i did it when I have a short holiday in Beijing with my family.

The video shooting is done by a digital camera..so it turn out not so good.
Video editing done by myself and it took me 20 hours just for a 4 minute video.

For some reason the hilariousness of this cha-cha dance video is a glaring oxymoron against the message he intends to send out. Yvonne was a young and promising lady having the time of her life when being diagnosed with cancer changed everything. By the time she passed away, she had left a legacy of life so strong that even in their grief, her family members (and my friend included) made a firm promise to keep on living life joyfully and to the fullest, doing crazy things and enjoying every moment, knowing that this was what Yvonne would have wanted.

Life is really about living it out, a hundred per cent, a hundred per cent of the time.
