Why this?

Wednesday, August 1st, 2007 @ 1:07 pm | Life-logger

I don't always shed tears over people I don't know, but the news of the two Korean hostages being killed by the Taliban regiment has shaken me up.

And right now I'm in the midst of rushing some work out, still I can't stop the tears.

I don't understand this, God, why do you have to do such things to us? Why is it necessary for religion to tear us apart, or what do you have to make us all believe in different things. Why is it that ideology can be a cause for violence, and why do people have to kill just to make a point.

I know I should not connect a particular religion to a particular behavior type, but as these news keeps piling up, how am I supposed to keep my principles intact? I'm not exactly easily shaken, God knows I'm opinionated and it takes a hell of a catastrophe to make me change my mind, but if these events aren't catastrophes, then how else can we define them?

Lord, Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who have sinned against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one, for Thine is the Kingdom, the Power, and the Glory, Forever and ever…

God’s ways are above our understanding. To the victims and families of these senseless killings, God’s promises in Revelations 21:4 says “And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.”

well… let not ours but His will be done. and sometimes, His will can be difficult to accept.

I like my explaination better. God has too many things to worry about in the universe (like stars burning out) than to worry about the plight of humans.

Hehe, I can start my own religion now.

your faith will be shaken if you believe God is responsible for all this. how can you say that? religion is man-made. Christianity teaches us that God gave man free will. the suffering is man made. for good to exist, there is evil. don’t blame God for that. blame those who believe killing is God’s way. we all have the choice to live His ways.

btw, ur faith becomes stronger becos of this pain you feel. will u pray to God if everything was good?

Mini, miss your posts. Write more lar. Hehe.
Yes, I wrote a long piece on that too and my heart is gripped. Let us not look at them as strangers but as brothers and sisters in Christ, and when you look from that point of view, your heart will be gripped too.
I really don’t know what to say anymore. Our prayers be with the remaining 22 warriors and their family members. “GOD, do something…do something…help us, help them to believe..”..

    Bless you,
    alvin

People get killed, blame ME. You petty humans fight over religions and war and use ME as an excuse. When something good happens, have you ever thanked ME?

To GOD(in answer to the one who posted as GOD),

Yes, it is your fault that people kill each other because by your almighty and all knowing way, you gave us free will. Power without responsibility is a terrible excuse for free will.

On the flipside, with free will, you never explicitly made religion. To only thank you for all the good things in life is hypocritical and purely narcissistic. You have never heard an athlete praise you for losing nor a drug addict say thank you when he/she polutes his/her “perfectly” working body.

    To minishorts,

I hope along with you that the remaining hostages will be freed, harmed or unharmed.

Hi there…um…(not sure to address you as Claire now or minishorts). I agree with zona marie, it’s not God’s doing. Pray for the wisdom to understand things. Pray also for acceptance of many things we cannot understand, because we simply do not have enough brainpower, enough capacity to understand everything like God does. Will remember you in my prayers, dear Ms Minishorts! Take care

No one saying it’s God doing! If anyone claims that it is God doing, then he/she must be a Taliban worshiper because they equate Taliban to God. The question is why God let these sort of things happen. Since God is almighty, God can intervene but He choices not to. I am sure a lot of Christian will argue that because God gives us free will. Therefore God will not intervene. Then why prayer to God for help since you believe God will not intervene because He given us free will!

As human, we will never be able to comprehend God decision and will never be able to answer all the questions that start with WHY. It is always good to cry out to God when we don’t understand. If God choices, He will give us revelation. As Christian, one can only believe and trust in God. And God will do the rest!

I can’t help but noticing that some of you actually know it’s god’s doing or not doing, isn’t it kind of presumcious. It’s an enormous power you’re possessing, and along with such powerful knowledge you could literally know what is coming without waiting for tomorrow’s paper.

Don’t get me wrong, I do not condone crime and regretted that how the events have unfolded so far. Everyone is asking “why” and could it be pure stupidity?

You’ve to ask why these evangelical christians are doing and believing that they’re actually carrying out god’s work (under the name of aid) and in the middle of a very muslim country.

Religion is simply a form of tribalism and the result is nothing short of unexpected.
