The Category, and then some research
Should have seen this coming. I've decided that since I'll be pretty busy having fun with all the research (and the madness), the site needs a brand new category.
'The Wedding!!' sort of explains what the posts are going to be about.
…
April and I went window shopping for dresses. Beatrice Looi's collection for now (it's Fall, isn't it, sorry I don't know my fashion terms very well), looks quite atrocious (if you're Beatrice Looi, I'm sorry if my bluntness offends you). While the Victorian feel does look distinctive, you can't really expect all the lacy-ness to last forever, can you?
Although I quite suspect the trends of frills and ribbons dangling all over your necklines, waistlines and kneelines has got something to do with Vera Wang's newest style. Check this out.

I bought a copy of 'Feng Chai's My Wedding and found out that the drapish-looking collection by Vera costs about SGD40k! Damned I can get myself a brand new Honda Accord with that kind of money! I can buy myself a house with that kind of money! These wedding things are atrocious, and you think it's bloody expensive to get married in Malaysia?
OK pardon me… btw, did you like my ring? With a little help from trusty old Picasa (I don't have Photoshop on this comp, I think it looks gorgeous. Will need to resize it for the ring finger though. Eric bought the small size available and still it's a little too big for me. I heard that thin fingers mean a lifetime's of working for a living, which means that after becoming somebody's wife I'm not about to resign and retire… you'll still be seeing me scribbling away, putting my words into someone else's speech, I hope. ^_^

I prefer the first and second pic to the 3rd. I think A-line is quite tricky, it really depends on your figure.

the second dress is fab!

Weddings are cheap.
It’s the fairytale that’s expensive.

Why not just tailor make the dresses?

Vincent got it right! The whole “dream wedding” is what is pushing up the budget. The dream gown, flowers, ceremony, rings, blah, blah, blah…even down to the damn invitations. =.=
The moment people hear that it’s for a wedding, they up the price and slaughter you…even tailors. Until today, my tailor isn’t sure if my dresses are for my wedding or not. I left her guessing.
I’m with you on the frills. It’s yucks. The look now here in M’sia la, apparently, is minimalist - experimenting with fragile lace/simple beading and ruching at the side.
(Hey, I lose weight too…but dunno if I ought to resize my wedding bling. Heh.)

Ooh, you’d better get your ring resized if it’s a bit loose. My sister found out that she’d lost her wedding ring while washing her hands and my mom-in-law accidentally flung hers off from the apartment balcony while trying to swat off a pesky fly. So, be careful there with it *winks*

I will invest on a Vera Wang gown. Even though it spells ‘expensive’ in 9 alphabets all over it because I am thinking of keeping the gown for the next generation.
Anyway, do check out me blog: http://www.tellmeastoryplease.net
=D
That ring has a big diamond by the way. Let me guess, is it more than 1 carat?

Michelle: Wah you must be VERY VERY rich. Buying a vera wang gown in Malaysia can get me a nice apartment with two rooms and a free parking lot… its way beyond my league.
The ‘big’ diamond is an illusion. Is it terribly important to guess the size of the ring?
(sorry if I sound bitchy today, it’s been a long tiring hunt for banquet halls and I have a problem with material girls)

No offence Michelle, but I don’t think your children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren are going to want to wear your wedding dress. It will be outdated by then, Vera Wang or not. Better to spend the money setting up a home and future for your family!

Hi Claire
I found this site while doing my own wedding research. However I didn’t purchase it from them in the end, as I’ve found a dress elsewhere.

Not too bad, considering it’s new and you get to keep it.
Best of luck with the wedding!
