The Public Private Life Totally Rocks

Nov 19, 2007 in Diary-writer

I read them! It's no that I don't. The Bersih walk (btw, Vincent, hate me but I SUPPORT THE WALK, plus I was smart enough to have agreed to Eric's gift, so I was on a ship while my friends marched with my hopes for the country!) Then I terbaca somewhere about blogwars (or was it a real life wars) and got a little bit puzzled. And then I decided being a very private person makes it easy to just let it be, and then I went back to enjoying life.

And then I went to the exit-culture event where my fiance was walking out of his first weekend of the Leadership Programme, and went mad jumping and shouting around (oh, the things that we cult-junkies do, you wouldn't understand), and then me and my maid-of-honour spent an hour slashing my silly budget (now, officially, I shall only spend RM100 only bouquet, and it's going to be hand made yippie!!).

After which I came to the office and realized yet again that I had driven for 20 kilometres and I left the essential notebook in the house. So as I was hopelessly looking for a way to run back home to get it, the boss's PA reminded me of a meeting at the Ministry hub over in Putrajaya happening only 40 minutes. And the meeting was… Well…

I have some things to say about who's manning the show, but obviously thanks to my job I can't exactly say much, so I'm going to be mum about it.

Wait a minute… yah actually, we're having a pretty hard time …

Actually we're not, I quite believe the people above are having a pretty hard time too…

Did you know that in actual fact, people are genuinely nice, with good intentions at all. Put one guy in front of the mike and camera and if he says that he hates corruption and hates racisms and hates bribery and hates radicalism, he's probably speaking the truth. However, ahah, corporations are evil.

And when government are run like corporations, how can they be not evil?

Repeat after me, the government is evil. The opposition is evil. Put people in a group and they behave like weird cult members. Human beings are evil.

An old friend would say this, 'THERE IS NO HOPE FOR THE HUMAN RACE.'

I totally agree.

I’m back…

Nov 16, 2007 in Diary-writer

I just got back, well, actually I got home a few days ago, but just got back to the blog…

I went on a cruise with the fiance, it's something like a happy engagement gift that cost him another small fortune (well, at least, whatever he paid for the trip was enough for me to rent a nice dress at My Dream Wedding House), but I'm not exactly complaining.

I have firmly decided that I love cruises. I really do. I LOVE the food that's on the cruise, and I love the activities they have on it, I love the gambling of course, but more important I love the food.

Wait, I said that already.

NO HOW CAN ANYONE NOT LIKE THE FOOD THAT IS ON THE CRUISE?

Sigh… so yummy!!

Of Vera Wang and little girl dreams

Nov 08, 2007 in Wedding-planner

That title by the way has nothing princessy about it, after finding out that a piece from VW's Fall 2008 collection costs well over 42000 dollars (Singapore dollars)… and also finding out that Villa Park's freehold apartments in not-so-classy Bukit Serdang will only cost me about RM150k…

No, Eric and I are not planning to buy a house yet because, obviously we're poor and we can't afford anything, not even the RM1500 needed to get a tailor-made gown from Lis Bridal.

I'm so broke I'm considering a second-hand dress from trusty old E-bay, after finding out that rental for a dream gown at My Dream Wedding House (that place in Damansara Perdana) will set me back at least RM1300, which allows me the opportunity to keep the dress for three days and two nights only.

Weddings ARE an excuses for people for charge atrocious bits of money, and for well wishers to pretend they're being nice with all their offers of help. HHAHAHAH today I almost snapped at April for telling me that the RM1149 dress at Coast was awesome (because it's true it's Awesome, it's just that I can't afford it… or even if I could afford it I'd rather buy an Ipod with the money).

So when a little girl innocently strolled into my site and said that the diamond on my ring is huge and offered a friendly guess, 'Let me guess, is it 1 carat?' I nearly burst and became all snarly and evil.

Maybe it's because I was flipping through some magazines a while ago and then I saw a 1.06 carat ring (Colour G, VS1) goes for about 20k?

Madness the prices that these people charge for bling-blings.

So no… the ring is NOT a one-carat ring. I'd kill Eric if he spent so much money on an ornament…

I need discounts. Discounts! Help!

The Category, and then some research

Nov 06, 2007 in Wedding-planner

Should have seen this coming. I've decided that since I'll be pretty busy having fun with all the research (and the madness), the site needs a brand new category.

'The Wedding!!' sort of explains what the posts are going to be about.

April and I went window shopping for dresses. Beatrice Looi's collection for now (it's Fall, isn't it, sorry I don't know my fashion terms very well), looks quite atrocious (if you're Beatrice Looi, I'm sorry if my bluntness offends you). While the Victorian feel does look distinctive, you can't really expect all the lacy-ness to last forever, can you?

Although I quite suspect the trends of frills and ribbons dangling all over your necklines, waistlines and kneelines has got something to do with Vera Wang's newest style. Check this out.

I bought a copy of 'Feng Chai's My Wedding and found out that the drapish-looking collection by Vera costs about SGD40k! Damned I can get myself a brand new Honda Accord with that kind of money! I can buy myself a house with that kind of money! These wedding things are atrocious, and you think it's bloody expensive to get married in Malaysia?

OK pardon me… btw, did you like my ring? With a little help from trusty old Picasa (I don't have Photoshop on this comp, I think it looks gorgeous. Will need to resize it for the ring finger though. Eric bought the small size available and still it's a little too big for me. I heard that thin fingers mean a lifetime's of working for a living, which means that after becoming somebody's wife I'm not about to resign and retire… you'll still be seeing me scribbling away, putting my words into someone else's speech, I hope. ^_^

Irresponsible Cowards

Nov 06, 2007 in Web-logger

Lately (or I quite believe this has been going on for quite some time), there are some unscrupulous no-name individuals who surf around the blogosphere seeking out 'interestingness' available on the net. When a possibly interesting post (or even, a comment to a post) appears, the 'professional' IP thief would take a snippet of the original piece, paste it into another post that later would appear another professionally done up (made to attract adsense) website.

In the recent wave of wedding-related ramblings I've blurted out since the excitement of being engaged, a reader offered to introduce me to a friend of hers who is a wedding planner. And so the crime was unduly committed, with the ever so trustable select with the mouse and then Ctrl-C then Ctrl-V, voila! You have the material you need to create a mockery of a 'blog-review' website.

The entire site, as you can see, is 'decorated' with the ugly paste me here and there adsense banner.

I know the online internet advertising-hounds are very successful in their money-making attempts, and as much as I cannot bring myself to respect the art, I have to give them the credit for their perseverence and industriousness, if you may.

But the above website, (and everyone else who is doing things like that), just gives me more reason to not like people who become rich by virtue of the Google Adsense/Pay per post/insert-whatever-you-want-here trend. I mean, if people can bring themselves to increase their earnings in the manner above, can you actually trust them as people or friends?

I think its despicable, pardon me for the strong language.
