Life’s other things…

On days when my work gets a little bit ahead of itself, I sink into my personal hellhole and wish wish wish wished like mad that I never took up this challenge to do what I do now, and that I was still that very bookist Editor working behind her desk, calling a submissions to the Chief Editor the biggest pain in my neck.
And this is probably the once-in-a-lifetime post where I actually rant about my work, while running a huge risk at that.
Nowadays my life is a total mess, because I have to deal with the heavy topics like the Power Purchase Agreements and Global Climatic Warning, or Generation that pollutes the environment, and NGO activists who can't seem to at least try to meet us at mid-point - somewhere. Because everybody has got to be right and no one on my plain here wants to work halfway (its either my way or the highway).
The issues is this: you want power, you realize power needs to be generated, generation requires resources, and so some people, they snap their little fingers and go, 'Easy go easy, renewable energy saves our environment, why burn fuel?'
Because you nins (pardon the language), renewable energy tak cukup makan, to generate the amount of power we use to 'move ahead with the times', you need a lot a lot, and renewable energy can only give a little a little, plus it costs land to have these plants to generate renewable energy, and the land required is a lot a lot, so a lot of land requires a lot of logging, and well… you do the math.
And then some people say, 'Eh Malaysia got reserve 40% what… do something about the IPP lah… or even better if you guys can't manage your work properly better give to better company like YTL, at least we know they're more efficient.'
Maybe, or maybe you might want to think about who is actually buying this 'better power' from the IPPs. Let's simplify the issue: over decard ago, country suffered major power breakdown, gahmen respond and say let's have independent power producers since our national power company can't seem to cope, then national pwoer company says ok let's have this, then the powerful three people come in and dunno what the top people do behind desks and so they sit and they negotiate lah, so what happened was they came up with something called the power purchase agreement, gahmen tells them you generate power also so that at least national power co can cope, the biggie rich guys say ok, where to get the money to buy the fuel, gahmen say national oil company can do it, so national oil company now sells fuel at subsidized prices to the IPPs, then IPP take the fuel to generate power, national power company is required to buy the power generated by the IPP, but funny clause in power purchase agreement never say 'buy only power required', instead national power company has to buy whatever the IPPs produce…
'Die lah how can like this,' you ask.
How I know, when you get too busy at the top you make strange decisions that are apparently 'die-cast in stone'.

Indeed, we're paying the price for the sins of our fathers. THIS IS NOT FAIR! I was only a little over 14 when they came up with this whole thing and the discussions are far from over? THIS IS NOT FAIR, how the hell did we end up with the super super rich in the country, and yet we still have to hurt from the sores and pains inflicted upon the very poor? The gap, oh the gap!
OK. Back to work. And I really work.
