Decisions.

I've told Eric that I never want to have another rabbit again, in my life. Not ever.

They keep dying in my care.

Eric says, maybe I love them too much that's why they have to leave me so soon. April says, you can't get too attached to your pets, its not good for them.

So now Astro has gone up to Rainbow Bridge to join Chewie. The cage will forever be empty. I cleaned it this morning, washed it thoroughly and then called my fiance to tell him, 'I don't think I can have rabbits. They keep dying on me.'

Then I flew off to Sabah for work. Most of the hotels are fully booked (Sabah Fair and the Labour Day weekend I think), so we found ourselves putting up at the Le Meridien. Its a nice way to nurse the pain, miles away from staring at an empty cage at home.

I think Astro's better off in Rainbow Bridge. Why stay with a rabbit-killing owner, right?

*distraught*

    Hi Mini,

Really sorry to hear about the passing of your two bunnies. I myself have a bunny (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dJWl7m5Y38w) of 2 years which at times did fall really ill but the good news that over here in SG there are some really good vets that specialize in bunnies and we have a really active bunny society (www.hrss.net/forum) which does help when you run into some kind of emergency.

Drop me a mail or two we can do more bunny talk over there.

sorry about your lost. but that doesn’t mean you’re a rabbit-killing owner. sometimes things like this just happens. well, i’m sure astro is having a great time up there together with chewie.

mini, avoid trying is not an answer, even tho u’re now in pain. I’ve come across deaths more than u did, n guess what does that make me? a good pet owner!

the point is, it’s natural that pet dies, regardless to how well u’ve taken care of them (u dont expect them to outlive u, do u?)

Try to get it over n try again, this time it’ll only make u a more experienced owner(n a stronger one too). U cant just let this to haunt u for d rest of ur life. U’re gonna bear children, remember? N who knows ur child might 1 day ask for a pet him/herself? What u gonna tell him/her? ” No son, mum tried that n failed n i dont want u to get hurt here so…”? A child needs to learn d truth of life n death, and it could start by having a pet(less hurt dont u think?). The “child” could be u.

Does death take love away too? Will u stop loving pet even tho death parted u with it? When u own a pet, doesn’t it come in package which includes death? Find love n courage from Him. Dont give up just yet.

Sorry to hear about this - I’m coping with my own loss. *hugs*

(Hey, have you considered getting an “older” pet instead of baby bunnies? They tend to be more fragile and harder to care…)

i know how you feel too. i have rabbits as pets too. i have one, Flopsy, who been with me and my boyfriend less than 2 months and passed away suddenly just like that, without any symptoms. his death was discovered by my bf’s maid while he was away, which before that Flopsy was perfectly healthy. so don’t know whether the maid has something to do with it or not. but, it hurts me so much, i cried for days. we love Flopsy so much.

then, we bought another 2 rabbits to remind us of Flopsy, Floppy and Flippy. they’ve been with us since January this year. unfortunately, they started developed symptoms of a disease too, which rotten their nose and feet. sadly, they won’t be with us soon. we treated with medicine and quarantined both of them separately to avoid Floppy’s disease to be spread to Flippy, but it got spread anyway. now, we bought a big cage to place both of them together and hope they spend their last moment together happily.

FlipFlop used to be so cute and lively before this, ears up whenever we’re near and run lighting fast. nowadays, all they do is just lie and ears down, they do not look happy AT ALL, and their looks are spoilt as well as their fur because of the disease.

we swear we won’t rear any bunnies anymore. they just kept doing on us too.. :( i feel your pain. Astro looks soooooo cute! so sorry about his death.

so sorry bout ur loss. I have 4 rabbits, all very healthy all this while. it might be ur rabbits’ diet or environment for the cause. so sad. anyway, i was told Lop-ear rabbits are harder to read.

  15. Passionista Says:

    Hey, I didn’t know…

so sorry to hear about your loss…

  16. Sharon Says:

I’m sure both Chewie and Astro must have been happy while they were under your care. It’s really too bad for them both to leave you so soon; I know you must feel horrible at the moment. But do take care there!
