Actually, it's very human to be calculative with a company because generally companies are very calculative with their employees.

Late by 5 Mins? Kena tui.

Leave "early" sometimes? and by early I mean at 5 p.m when you are officially supposed to be gone? Kena tui.

Pay First for the company? Can. When you going to pay me back? "Er, cheque is being processed. Check back in a week"

"I don't care if the team leaders are gone for the week and you will have no work until they return, you still need to be at your desk everyday"

See, when companies start treating employees with the "I'm paying you, you do as i say" attitude, employees will like wise think "Well then, unless you pay me, i'm not going to do anything". In the end, nobody benefits.

Which is why I feel that money should never be the motivating factor in a company. People should be hired because they love what they do more than money, and companies should then pay them above and beyond the norm. Think it's idealistic? Only if you have no idea what you are doing.

Very enlightening post minishorts. Always wanted to climb that corporate ladder but never thought of paying for all those things for other people. But as you say can claim back so no problem. :-)

okay actually hor, it really hurts your wallet when one is expected to go for business trips, work related field trips, layan clients and pay pay pay pay pay pay pay for everything first.

it's really bad for the personal bank account and credit card bleeds.
Not really trying to be kiamsap, but how does a lowly paid, low ranking employee go through the month in peace when half his/her bank account is already wiped out and the credit card is in the red because employee had to pay for everything first.... and it takes at least a whole month or more before the company finally decides to pay back.

but if I am senior management with high flying wages and I drive around in my big big car - I wouldn't care lah. But not if I am small timer with small wages and my job requires me to fork out money first for work-related expenses. Very sakit.

A little bit unfair to use this issue as a gauge of a (low ranking, low paying) employee's attitude towards work, or their commitment towards it.

just my 2 cents lah. :P

Have to agree with 2cents.

Anyway, where else can you get a complete study of human behaviour? Accept it as an FOC course which will make you a better person.

Me, I'm happy with donuts at meetings.
