Silver linings, where art thou?

They say that every dark cloud has at least one silver lining. And there are never, just one dark cloud in the sky, hence there're always going to be many, many silvery bright linings, even on stormy days (or weeks).

The weight problem is now recognized as a fleshy problem. My weight's been constant since early Jan so there hasn't been a gain in weight. Unfortunatelym I still cannot zip up my blasted dress. But today this woman at the gym came up to me to ask me how'd I keep so fit.. Oh the irony! So now I'm deemed 'fit' and I see the problem I've got muscles in the wrong places, and thanks to the working out (all brides either starve to slim down or they workout like mad at the gym – I took the latter choice), I've now got broader shoulders, a tougher back, and hence, a body that won't fit into the evening gown.

The 'what will I do if I started bleeding out of my bottom on the big day' is now turning into a million-pound headache. I've got the contraceptive pills solution at hand, which I'm really really reluctant to try. The problem is this – if my period comes too early, I'll end up looking like The Green Globin come the day of the wedding and I'm really, really not very keen on ultra-thick foundations and blushers to fake the blushing bride look (I wanna go as au naturale as possible). So yah, at the moment i'm not exactly keen on inducing the period to come a little earlier.

On the other hand, if I delay the period, and make it come, say a few days later.. or a week later… I'll be nursing a very bloated body on board that plane to my honeymoon. Now we all know that periods are NOT supposed to be present during your honeymoon for obvious reasons yah. But that aside, we've got two luxurious four hour spas booked during the honeymoon and having a period will mean that I won't be able to enjoy the spa soak and the massage!

So I'm back to prayer. And adult diapers (a friend suggested that I tested on the gown with adult diapers underneath so that I can, errr, 'leak comfortably' without staining the pretty white gown.')

'Won't the diapers make my ass look bigger?'

'All brides wanna have big asses, especially asian brides. The aunties will be happy. They'll be happy to know that Eric's marrying a very fertile lady. Ngam one lah, just wear diapers.'

Me, in diapers, on my wedding day. Very romantic indeed.

  1. Haha its quite funny to imagine the “ooo baby what is this?” thing.

  2. i’m not into contraceptives…but that’s just my preference….i think you may want to try tampons with a pad as suggested by the other poster. But if you haven’t used tampons before, try them out first during this cycle…see how you go before deciding the course of action.

About the spa..tampons will be fine…

but about the wedding night….you know all that natural lubrication (though a bit messy) does wonders for the “first time” :o )

  3. Hiya Choo Ki,

Your situation is fast becoming something of an extreme version of Alanis Morisette’s “Ironic”.

Adults diapers? That bad, is it?

You could always go the corset and billowing skirt (don’t really know the term) of the pre 19th century European dresses to hide whatever bulge (urghh..)..

    Ciannya..

    All the best, still.

  4. Hmm, you should be doing Pilates instead of the gym. It tones without bulking you up and it’s the best thing to get a flat stomach.

Just take the pills and have your period come earlylah, babe. Or take them every day to stop your period for however long you need to stop it for, then after the honeymoon, stop taking them. It’s a temporary measure only mah…

  5. wear diapers make ur butt look big? wudnt that make u look even sexier with a bigger and firmer butt?

  6. Pills over diapers ANYTIME!

  7. my friend said that eating pineapple will make your period come earlier. u can always try that if u dont want to take pills. having ur period earlier is better than during/after d wedding ;)

  8. pineapple?

    good luck there!
    heheh

stick wif science yea.. pills, jabs, coils, implants, etc.. options galore..

or u can go the old fashion.. god, fruits, fat pads?

  9. You can take Norculot to delay your period. Just remember to follow the schedule in the instructions. Good luck!

  10. fussy betul la kamu

even if period dun come natually exactly on d day, it will still naturally come b4 /after d day 1, there is no way it wont come b4/after/on d day mah

keep eating the pills until everything is over lor

actly the skin is d best one week after period, so take the ‘come sooner’ bill 2 weeks from now la

  12. Hi there,

You probably should see doc and ask him for pills like Diane-35. I actually took Diane-35 for my hormone imbalance prob some time ago.

It helps to regulate your menstrual flow and the good news is, you won’t get any pimples on your big day AND the period is NOT going to be heavy. My period used to last 1-2 days only and it wasn’t heavy at all (so it’s definitely not goin to stain your wedding gown). Another good news is that the pill is very mild only, so it actually won’t affect your plans of conceiving (if that’s what you have in mind :P )

Perhaps, you can try it. :) Do ask the doc for further info just in case it’s not suitable for you.

  13. Hi!

I’m usually a silent reader of your blog but I thought I’d leave a comment as I may have an answer to your problem.

If you start using the contraceptive Diane-35 now (Get the generic, it is much cheaper. Here in Aus it is called Estelle) you can skip your period for a month by simply not taking the white pills and going onto the next pack of yellow pills. Just start taking the yellow pills now and when you get to the white don’t take them and take the next yellow ones.

I used to take it for my bad skin problems but it also relived my really bad period pain symptons and made my period lighter and last 3 or 4 days max!

It is a very gently contraceptive (i didn’t get any side affects and I have a very weak stomach!) and helped to clear my skin and take away my pains!!!

When I went away on holiday I skipped my period for a month by skipping the white pills but when I came back I took the pills as normal and my period went back to its normal cycle. I did have some very light spotting when I skipped my period but that was nothing compared to the inconvenience of a full blown period while away from home!

I have gotten A LOT of advice from phramacists and doctors about this pill as I was VERY WARY of taking it but it really was a god send and actual helped to balnce my screwy hormones!!

Also, you don’t need to start taking the pill on the first day of your period if you don’t plan to use it as a contraceptive :) you can start taking it whenever!

All the best for the big day and i hope this helps!

    Cheers,
    Ching You

  14. hello! use Yasmin contraceptives. it not only delays your period, but also improves your complexion and doesn’t encourage weight gain, which some contraceptives do. a lot of my doctor friends recommend this brand.

  15. For those who don’t know, Diane is actually what dermas would recommend for really bad skin problems or acne due to hormonal imbalance. Doctors in M’sia don’t really recognize it officially as a birth control pill even though it actually is. Yasmin is the “official” sister of Diane. :)
