Provocative

I learnt something very very strange about human behaviour recently, or more precisely, over the course of two days.
You see, I'm no angel, so I have my share of detractors. Actually I have a HUGE number of detractors, and at one time it got so bad that I almost had to stop blogging – which I did. But then I came back, because blogging, apart from being a place for me to articulate some thoughts that were going on in my head, allows me to occasionally collect samplings of human thought and behaviour, and in the work that I do – these experiences help me help my people immensely (if you don't know already, I'm a PR professional, but I'm sometimes invited to give professional coaching in writing and business communications to companies).
I don't know about you, but when I get scolded by some people in their blog, the last thing I'd want to do is go in and tell them how wrong they are and start a long argument with them. I would NEVER EVER return again and again, several times in a day, to tell them how rude and unlearned they are, much less give my two sen to them over how I think they should lead their lives.
The other thing I would never do is to walk into another person's blog who is commenting on something that is close to his opinions, and tell him how wrong he is to have that kind of opinion.
But I must say, because I am sort of righteous and opinionated, and judgemental myself, I do get agitated when I read of news and posts and actions of other people who occur to me as the biggest culprits of pointless stupidity. And I'm not that kind of person who thrives over gossiping at the local coffeeshop, because personally I think it's not very nice to disrupt a relaxing milo session by talking about people who are stupid and wrong, in my eyes. So, I let'er rip by blogging it, and when I blog it, yah, I get into my words and I really let them out.
…
To me, a blog is a personal place with windows to the soul of the person. it's a bit like somebody's home, with curtains that are drawn open occasionally to give you a peek into what's happening there. My blog is something like a show unit, so many times, I open doors and allow visitors, strangers even, to walk in and enjoy the view. Of course, it's not all the time comfortable and soothing. Once in a while, there are arguments and glass vases thrown around the house.
If you are a visitor to this kind of house, do you tell the owner off in her face, 'You are rude and you are a lousy host?'
I don't know about you, but I'm the type who would shut my yap and never return, because obviously our characters clash.
THE LAST THING I WOULD DO IS START AN ARGUMENT WITH THE OWNER OF A HOUSE IN HER OWN HOUSE. If she scolds me back, I think she has every right. If I know she scolds me back, I wouldn't come back again and again to argue with her.
I'd thought that was common sense, but since two days ago, I really learnt something very very strange about people. *puzzled*

Wouldn’t it be better to tell it to someone’s face rather than bitching behind their back. and if someone is wrong, that person is wrong everywhere. own house syndrome isn’t an excuse to be a prick. right?
plus the internet is a public space. there is no ‘own house’. you publish things for the world to see and comment. you don’t want replies, go write a diary.
Exactly, I wanted replies. This post is to talk about my observation of the replies I get. Looks like its continuing.

everyone has the right to be opinionated.
but there comes a time where you go, “maybe its time to go into a private blog”.
ooowhhh but then there won’t be much drama! no fun… continue the amusement please.

I guess Claire can and have the freedom of speech to say and publish whatever she wants in her blogspace in the public internet. If anyone is offended by the content in anyway, just don’t come here anymore.
No one has the right to tell another person how he/she should feel. You feel what you feel and it is a reality to you.
Everyone is created unique, in the image of God. At least I know I am and its real to me. For those out there whose ancestors are apes, I offer you my sympathy and condolence. Its what you believe and it is the reality in your world.

If anyone type in the URL of a p0rn0 site, you expect to see p0rn0. If you don’t like it, you don’t return. You don’t go to pl@yb0y and tell them to change their content.
Likewise for Minishorts. I’ve came here for years knowing what controversies I’m expecting to read from time to time. I may not agree fully with all the opinion but its what makes her who she is and its the attraction of this place.
You choose the content you want to see so shut up!

CONCLUSION: Claire’s pregnancy hormones => whiny, bitchy, gatai, childish, defensive = ATTENTION DEFICIT SYNDROME => pick fights with hubby, pastor, colleagues, clients yet SYMPATHY DEFICIT SYNDROME. WHat to do? Desparado…. blog post after post to pick more fights with known and unknown people on Internet!!!

Lurker, you mean in name of free speech, it’s ok for a young woman to call someone who is an esteemed member of the society and who is also perhaps as old as her grandfather, ass? and for her to yell at a stranger, idiot, stupid and brainless, for some flimsy excuses? you have a weird sense of humor!!!!

minishorts: THE LAST THING I WOULD DO IS START AN ARGUMENT WITH THE OWNER OF A HOUSE IN HER OWN HOUSE.
come on, a blog is like a stall at your local pasar malam. you invite potential buyers to browse your wares. if you put up misleading advertising, don’t expect your customers to shut up.

Are you in a dream or pretending to be naive. you are inviting strangers to your blog and you are inviting comments. you mean you spend your time standing outside your house inviting strangers into your house just like prostitutes do??

sharman, there’s nothing wrong to be opinionated on issues but going on personal attack and putting people down are different kettle of fish.
July 24, 2009 at 10:21 pm
Boey, you are treating her like a prostitute, if you enjoy her, you’ll go back again. otherwise, you shut up and moved on.

I pity you minishorts at times, on some of the nonsensical stupid comments you have had to deal whenever you write a new post. Btw, always have been a silent reader and this is probably my first and also my last comment..

If the “esteemed” person in the society behaves like in idiot, he deserves to be told off. There are code of conducts for such esteemed persons and tweeting every so often when he was attending a funeral is just NOT APPROPRIATE!
And I salute Claire for having the guts to twitter him directly to ask him to shut up! And shut up he did, for an hour or so.

Yeah, you can’t tell thieves that they should feel bad for stealing!
I don’t know what you mean by apes, but I suspect your definition of it is as flawed as your understanding of evolution.
Claire, time to put up a donation button!
I’m too dumb to understand this. Is this what we call a straw man argument? Or it’s what we call, ‘putting words in one’s mouth.’
And from what I read in the papers, prostitutes normally perform their trade in hotels. I guess this is untrue according to Kenneth’s experience.

Lurker, did claire also call up other reporters and photographers too? why the double standard? isn’t he also a ‘reporter’?
July 25, 2009 at 3:27 pm
Luker, You have painted the picture of LKS as a heartless person. look, he was there in person to give support. It didn’t take him 5 minutes to get there. He had to travel a long way. On top of that, I would estimate that he was there for a couple of hours. Do you expect him to sit there say nothing and do nothing for, say 2 hours?? Did you see the photo of him and LGE, standing beside Kapal and Gorbin paying their last respect? everyone look so sad. We all feel for the family of the deceased. LKS had to get back to ‘work’ at some point, and he did. As far as I am concern, hats off to him. He’s working so hard day and night just to make sure we have a future. He didn’t go to jail twice because he thought it would be good holidays there.

Oh. I see the light. So, lurker and minishorts set the standard for what IS APPROPRIATE. This is their verdict: MSM reporters OK. Others: to be condemned.

Wah.. this minishorts person is no keng.. even LKS has to take her instruction. Anwar and Najib better behave.
Lurker, you are a joker. I give you joker of the year award.

eh sheesh: kenneth/ david/paul, whoever you are, thanks for all the attention, but look, go get a life and go badger some other unassuming woman out there. you’re looking damn stupid, and I thank you for doing me the favour of demonstrating what stupid means.

minishorts is probably the most kurang ajar person I’ve ever come across.
